The Sex & the City 2 Soundtrack leaves much to be desired. Sure there is one song on there that will remind you of the good old days when the show was in its prime. Unfortunately, one song is not enough to hold together an entire movie soundtrack.

I don’t know many women who can say this, but I have a seriously low tolerance for Sex and the City. In the beginning, I liked the show. However, I felt it became too predictable, out stayed it’s welcome for way too long, and ended on a note that a blind mute could have seen coming. Likewise, the movies are just a shell of what they could have (or even should have) been. They are only viewed because people cling to the memory of the show and because they are filled with outrageous fashion and wild sexual romps. The movies are meant to be fun, in a simpleminded way. My mom absolutely loves them. I, on the other hand, would rather drink a bottle of straight Whiskey and have a prison root canal.

Still, as May 27 rolled around and the new movie promos were making me want to puke, I realized that I had to man up and take mom to the movies. After all, she loves the series and she’s done plenty to suffer for me. Spending two hours suffering for her only seemed fair. So, I put on a happy face and only rolled my eyes at the pathetic vision of the three Lizas doing the “Single Ladies” dance at the gay wedding or the incessant yam devouring of an oversexed woman in menopause when mom wasn’t looking.

Prior to seeing the movie, I was offered the Sex & the City 2 Movie Soundtrack to review. I decided to take the network that offered me the CD up on their offer because I knew my mom would love the CD when I was done with it. So, at best I figured that I would have a new CD and at worst I figured mom would have one. Either way, I would stand to win.

The CD includes the following songs:

Alicia Keys – “Rapture”
Dido – “Everything to Lose”
Cee Lo – “Language of Love”
Erykah Badu – “Window Seat”
Natacha Atlas – “Kidda”
Michael McGregor – “Euphrates Dream”
Liza Minnelli – “Single Ladies” (Put A Ring On It)
Ricki-Lee – “Can’t Touch It”
Alicia Keys – “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down”
Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis – “Love Is Your Color”
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon – “I Am Woman”
Sex and the City Men’s Choir – “If Ever I Would Leave You”
Sex and the City Men’s Choir – “Sunrise, Sunset”
Sex and the City Men’s Choir – “Till There Was You”
Shayna Steele, Jordan Ballard, Kamilah Marshall – “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”
Liza Minnelli with Billy Stritch – “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”
Cyndi Lauper – “True Colors”
Aaron Zigman – “Divas and Dunes”

Some of these songs are good; some of them just plain suck, and well, some I don’t even remember being in the movie at all. The Men’s Choir, for instance, isn’t too bad to listen to, but is only memorable because they were involved in the first ten minutes of the film during the gay wedding. If you forget the gay wedding, it’s likely that you have some form of memory issue and you might want to get that checked. Still the songs are worth a listen. That being said, I doubt they will get high priority play.

Along the same vein of thinking, Liza’s “Single Ladies” makes her sound like she’s ready for the retirement home for stars past their prime and the Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis duet is just incredibly trite and pointless. They should have picked another song to put here altogether. If you want to have a good time you will listen to the girl’s singing “I Am Woman.” Sure, it’s not professionally done, but it does have those happy memories attached that make you think of the foursome when life was good, like back in the earlier seasons.

All in all, this is a movie soundtrack and it’s not an overly impressive one. If you buy this it should be because you want to hear these songs specifically. I found one that I really wanted and a selection of other songs I either already owned or could find on better CDs. It doesn’t leave me much reason to want to own or even recommend this. Fans of the movie will be better off waiting for the movie to come out and just buying that. Personally, I would save the wallet the trouble and skip this one.

Disclosure: The Sex & the City 2 Soundtrack was provided to me by the One2One Network in order to facilitate this review. While the CD was mine to keep, no money changed hands, and the opinions here are my own.

Do you have a Facebook account? What about Twitter, LinkedIn, or Myspace? If you do let us know which you like best and where to find you. Take the opportunity to connect with other readers and make some new friends.

Do you spend a lot of time on Facebook or Twitter? When you get on the computer, after you check your email what is the first website you visit? In case you haven’t guessed already, today I am thinking about social media. I am a Facebook user more than any other social media site these days. I have connected with many old friends so it’s logical for me to visit on a close to daily basis. I use Twitter quite a bit, too, though I admit it is not as much as I would like. I find myself visiting for brief spurts and then leaving for weeks at a time. With that in mind, I think I will be picking it up again now that the semester is over.

With social media taking over how people use the Internet for work and for play I thought it would be a good chance to connect with my readers. Do you use things like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Friendfeed, and all of those other great sites? Are you an active Youtuber? If you are, we want to hear from you. Leave me a comment and let me know where I can find you.

While you’re here feel free to chime in on your favorite online haunts. Do you prefer Facebook or LinkedIn to Myspace? Let me know your success stories, too. If you found a job from having conversations on Twitter or some other site let me know.

And, if you’re so inclined to want to connect with me, you can catch me in the following spots:

Tropicana Rewards has a lot of great things going on. The newest special deals focus on Mother's Day. One of the great rewards allows you to get $15 off a purchase of $49.99 or more at 1800 Flowers!

I am impressed more and more with the Tropicana Rewards Program. There are so many rewards to choose from that I still haven’t searched through them all! One of my favorite things about this program though is that they offer special deals and rewards at various times. Recently they offered a buy one, get one free movie ticket deal with Fandango. I was sad that none of the theaters around here were participating, otherwise I would have snatched up my fair share of tickets. These special deals go easy on the reward points, too.

It’s nice to know that even if you only have a few points you still have plenty of options to choose from. I’ve been earning between 6 and 12 points monthly, which translates to three or four cartons of Tropicana Orange Juice. With a teenager in the house, I figure I should have plenty of reward points for months to come because he loves his daily dose of Tropicana!

With Mother’s Day around the corner, Tropicana is offering a number of reward point offers that are perfect for gifts for mom. Among them you will have the chance to provide the special mom in your life flowers at a discounted price courtesy of 1-800-Flowers and Tropicana Rewards. The current deal is available until May 10, 2010 to coincide with Mother’s Day spending. For just 3 points you can take $15 off of a $49.99 order. So, that means you can get $50 worth of flowers for the bargain price of $35! Just think, with those savings you could throw in a box of chocolates, too, and still only spend what you would have originally spent on the flowers! You can’t beat a deal like that!

Head on over to Tropicana today to join the rewards program if you haven’t already. If you have, drop me a comment letting me know how you like it and what you’re spending your rewards points on!

“I wrote this review while participating in the Tropicana Juicy Insiders Ambassador program by Mom Central on behalf of Tropicana. I received 12 free Juicy Rewards points and a $50 Visa gift card to use in redemption of the points and to facilitate my review.”

How to you handle verbal snafus on Facebook? When you say something and someone assumes the worst (or vise versa) what is your response and how do you handle it?

Facebook can be a funny thing. It’s a website that nearly everyone uses. It’s a website where you can keep in touch with friends you once went to school with, people you go to college with, and friends in general. Lately, with an incredibly hectic school schedule I have used it to blow off steam and to keep in touch with people I need to work with until this semester is over. It recently struck me how easy it is to fall into that trap of misunderstanding on the Internet though and it led me to wonder how people handle it when others are so sensitive about things that have nothing to do with them.

So, here is the example. A student actor is in a play. The play is for a class that is being directed by another student. The actual play is ludicrous. It involves three people, one of which is disabled. The play, Vines in a Vacuum, is a one act play that lasts for about 10-12 minutes. It’s all about a crumbling marriage between a young woman and her husband. The girl spends her life taking care of her disabled brother and her uncaring, selfish husband. The scene involves the disabled man speaking to the audience (he does not speak to his sister or brother-in-law) about his situation and his family.

In between these monologues the sister and brother-in-law converse with each other, they attempt to care for the disabled person who is less than thrilled at the choices they try to make for him, and they fight about the situation they are in. You see, the sister took her brother in and the husband is not thrilled he’s not top on the list of priorities for his wife anymore. To put it bluntly he wants the disabled brother to die. He says it more than once. If done correctly, I am told that you are supposed to empathize with the husband as his feelings are quite normal in a situation like this (I can’t say I am familiar with them, but that may just be me). In some cases, you are supposed to also empathize with the sister, who has no interest in sex with her husband because she’s too tired taking care of her brother. She’s spread thin and has nothing to give anyone, even herself. The one person you’re not supposed to empathize with is the one in the wheelchair (makes a lot of sense, right?).

The play is rather hideous. It is stated that there is insurance money involved so one would assume that Gene (the disabled man) was in an accident. Of course, Gene also states that he cannot move other than his head (making him a quadriplegic) and he cannot speak (a stroke victim, perhaps). Looking at all of the symptoms he could have something similar to ALS, as well, but again, that would not give him any insurance money. Then again, an average accident isn’t going to turn him into a non-vocal quad that can still swallow his food, but can’t speak. So, he’s got multiple symptoms of various diseases and possible accidents. I guess the point is that he’s in a chair. That’s really all that matters in this ten minute monstrosity.

Well, I saw the play and to be honest, I only saw it because my boyfriend was in it. I was pleased to see that he stole the show. Many people came up and commented on how amazing he was, how honest his portrayal was, and how it made them cry. On Facebook, I commented on how the play was mediocre, but that he did a fabulous job turning nothing into something. Unfortunately, little comments like that (meant about the play not the production) can easily be misunderstood.

What I don’t understand is how one comes up with a reaction for a misunderstanding like that. If I read something and jump to conclusions, I am most likely going to ask about what it is and if my assumptions are correct. I am not going to unfriend someone or block them or just assume I know what they are talking about. It’s sad to think that with as much technology as we have to take advantage of, and how far we have come in so many areas, it’s still in most people’s nature to assume the worst about other people.

So how do you handle Internet social cues? If you see something and think it means something but aren’t sure do you ask or do you just assume the worst?

Cyberbullying is beginning to take teenage lives at a sad and alarming rate. So, now that you know what's killing our youth, what is it, how do you stop it, and why is it being allowed to go on? Take a look at some of the fallen and add your two cents about helping the kids that are hanging on.

Cyberbullying is something that sounds harmless on the surface. What people forget is that words cause the most psychological damage. Cuts and bruises heal. The scars from words last forever. But, what is Cyberbullying, exactly?

Cyberbullying is defined as the use of e-mail, instant messaging, chat rooms, pagers, cell phones, or other forms of information technology to deliberately harass, threaten, or intimidate someone. As you might have already guessed it is bullying set to the computer age.

Unfortunately, this type of bullying is far worse than it used to be when I was a kid. People were mean then, but there is one glaring difference between then and now; the words that people spoke about me and every other kid in class hurt. Sometimes, they hurt like hell. No one ever hung themselves though because of what was said in the hallway. If my assumption is correct, based on what I remember as a teen, we’d come home, cry, vent, and prepare for the next day. We never tried to die because of the words that were said. These days things are different.

Bullying still goes on in schools and in social circles and now it’s also moved to SMS (text) messages, Facebook, Myspace, and other social websites around the Internet. Some truly inventive people even make websites promoting their hatred for other kids. They call them names, make fake names to torment other kids, and in some cases they become other people just to laugh in someone’s face the first chance they get. In response, more and more children are committing suicide because it’s the only way for them to be free.

As adults, as educators, as compassionate human beings we all need to ask ourselves…When is enough going to be enough?

Take a look at the names, ages, and stories of some of the kids that were victims of bullying that couldn’t take it anymore.

Ryan Patrick Halligan: Age 13 – According to reports Halligan had some developmental delays, but was an otherwise good kid. While he handled his delays as best he could, he couldn’t handle the physical and Internet taunting or the rejection from a woman that “liked” him online and laughed in his face when she finally confronted him in person. Ryan died at age 13 in 2003.

Megan Meier: Age 13 – Meier was taunted on Myspace by a local neighbor girl’s mother who created the identity of a boy and befriended Meier only to lead her on, as this boy, and eventually tell her horrible things to cause her pain. Meier responded to the public and private harassment by committing suicide in 2008. The mother, Lori Drew was accused criminally for her part in Meier’s demise, but only received a misdemeanor despite her role in the bullying.

Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover: Age 11 – Carl was a young boy that liked playing football. He was in sixth grade. Apparently a lot of children liked to tease him and call him names. One of their favorite taunts was about Carl being gay (even if he was, he never said that). This harassment caused Carl to hang himself. Carl committed suicide in April 2009 at 11 years old.

Phoebe Prince: Age 15 – Prince was picked on for having an Irish accent and for being pretty enough to catch the attention of one of the members of the football team. She was bullied in and out of school, ultimately causing her suicide. Phoebe’s attackers are being charged with statutory rape, stalking, and criminal harassment, among other things. All of this led to Phoebe hanging herself in January 2010.

Alexis Pilkington: Age 17 – Committed suicide due to social networking bullying on sites like Facebook and Formspring.me. Even after Alexis’ death, people continued to leave messages that would have hurt the beautiful, young girl. Alexis ended her life in March 2010.

The National Youth Violence Prevention Center states that in Middle and High School grades at least 13% of students admit to bullying someone and as many as 11% (most likely many more that didn’t admit it) were bullied by other students. The number one reason for a bully to try and harm someone physically or emotionally is that they do not feel the person they are picking on fits in.

The result of bullying leads the children being picked on to become insecure and anxious. These kids often suffer from forms of low self-esteem and rarely, if ever attempt to defend themselves because if they hear these things enough they begin to wonder if they are true. This leads to severe isolation and withdrawal, and in some cases that leads to suicide.

Twitter can be an awesome tool, a fun way to waste a day, or a huge annoyance all depending on who you follow and what relationships you build. I can think of people of things that annoy me on Twitter. These are a few of those things.

I remember the day fondly (or sometimes not) that my mother burst into my office telling me about Twitter. We were having a communication problem with Comcast Cable (we’re now ATT Uverse customers as a result) and she insisted that I try out the service because she heard that more and more people were flocking to it to deal with complaints and resolutions. Mom was listening to Good Morning America again, and I’ve learned it’s best to just look at the sites she tells me about whether or not I will use them, because she will bug me relentlessly until I do. At least in the case of Twitter, she remembered the name when she told me about it, because normally she forgets and just assumes I will know the websites that she is speaking about.

At the time she made me sign up I knew what Twitter was, but thought it was strictly for people on the go (using their cell phones). I learned quickly how wrong I was. Within that first week I began following some great people and made sure my cable problem was resolved. It’s been over a year now and I just started using Twitter after a long hiatus. I have a love hate relationship with Twitter. I do my very best to ignore the things that annoy me, but some days the annoying things are all I see. As a fairly regular user these days, I see a lot of things that keep me from following people. Now, I am aware that my one follow means little in the scheme of things, but if this stuff bothers me, it probably annoys the hell out of other people, too.

1. The Overuse of Links – I post links to my blog articles on Twitter. I know most people do these days, too. However, there is a fine line between posting links to your posts and posting ONLY links to all of your posts on your 3,753 blogs. While reading about how to get a cat urine smell out of leather chaps might be important, if you can’t at least tell me Good Morning before you post 60 similar links then I don’t want to be bothered.

2. Blatant Misspellings that are Completely Unnecessary – You have 140 characters. Use them. I will admit, like most people, I cut out commas, apostrophes, and periods in order to get the words in, but I don’t purposely misspell if I have characters left over. Don’t write – “U R Da Bst” when you can say “You are the best.” Things like U, UR, Wut, Wud, and so on just completely annoy me. Granted, this is not for the majority of people I speak with on twitter, it’s more for the people I accidentally come across and run away from for fear of getting a headache when trying to read their posts.

3. The Follower with No Posts – Spotting a spammer on Twitter is super easy because they come in one of a few forms. One of those forms is the person that is following 6,485 people and not one post on their Twitter stream. Other spammers are ones that use the dirty pictures or DM you the minute you follow them sending you to their favorite naked picture of their no-no parts.

4. Following for the Sake of Following – Following people that follow you back is always fun, but if you’re unable to offer any form of value to people why be on Twitter at all? Making conversation isn’t hard on Twitter (or anywhere online, really), it just comes down to what you want to get out of your relationships with people. So, if you’re following people try talking to them. Take the time to learn from them and to strike up a conversation, you’ll be surprised to see how many followers you gain as a result.

5. Using Twitter for Polarizing Purposes – Everyone has differences but if you’re on Twitter to settle a score or to push your agenda then I’m not one to get too excited about your presence. People talking in hate speak (against the GLBT, disabled, various races), people that push religion, or threaten another person’s well being on the basis of their beliefs need to take a breath and think about the things they say before they fill their stream with things that are going to cause others to wonder about whether they want to interact with them as a result of their words.

6. Hashtag Addicts – #ihatewhenpeoplemakehashtagsoutofeverythingnomatterhowlongthehashtagis. Note: the original hashtag was so long that it tried to break the look of my site. The tag ran off into the sidebar and wouldn’t stop! Did you get all that? Hashtags were meant to group posts, which is good. Using one in each post in the hopes of being involved in a trending topic whether your tweet has anything to do with that or not, is not cool. Use them because you’re involved in a twitter party, because you’re watching a show and talking to others using it, or because you have a general purpose, don’t just use them because they are there.

7. Salesmen – Build your brand by making relationships not by shoving your product down my throat. If you have to keep offering my that blog marketing software six times a day on three different Twitter accounts that tells me how much you’re making from it. Not all blogs are the same and not all people using Twitter are there because they are bloggers. If Twitter is your audience you should attempt to sell your wares wisely because not all people are going to want to buy them or even hear about them. However, if you play your cards right and are a good person to follow, jobs and plenty of opportunity can come from the relationships that you build on Twitter.

Using Twitter is just like using any other social media platform. Some people are there for selfish reasons, some people are there because it’s the hip place to be, and other people are there to build relationships. If you want to be a good person to follow the first thing you need to do is figure out which of the three types of users you are or want to become.

Speaking of twitter if you have one and want to connect click the graphic and you can follow me there. Feel free to leave your @ name in the comments so people can find you there, too. While you’re in the comments let us know which annoying twitter habits you don’t like, especially if your complaint list is different then mine.

Some friends from school recently had a break-in at their house. Luckily they were not home, but they lost a bunch of stuff as a result and we are hoping to help!

When you tell people you live in the Flint, MI area you usually get one of two responses….

1. I’m sorry, where is that?

or

2. Oh, I saw Roger & Me. Do you know the Rabbit Lady? (for the record, my mom worked with her.)

Despite the rap of high crime and all around suckiness, I am glad to say that I have gotten away relatively unscathed. I have never been the victim of a crime. I go to a decent school (UM-Flint), and I have met some great professors and some truly awesome students. Dom is taking acting, so we are around a lot of the theater students, which is always fun.

The other day, one of those students posted on her Facebook that she was robbed! She’s a younger college student, living with her fiancee who is also an actor (they are both awesome, by the way, but this has nothing to do with that.) Point of the story is, the couple lost a Laptop, an XBox 360, a Nintendo DS (one of Kate‘s Christmas Present from Carl), and a selection of games.

This just really annoys me that this happened to two people that are so incredible (then again, it would annoy me if it happened to anyone I know). I recently sold my Nintendo DS, but now I wish I hadn’t because I would have gladly given it to Kate. I am sure it wouldn’t replace the one she had, but it would have been better than nothing.

I have some PR friends in the business that work with XBox and Nintendo and I hope that I can pull some strings and see about getting them some surprises. Dom and Carl are friends on XBLA and they both are everyday players. Before I came on to write this Dom even mentioned that if Carl managed to get a hold of another XBox (via a donation or something, since they probably cannot afford to replace everything they lost) that he would hand over our copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Carl’s favorite game) because he doesn’t play it nearly as much as Carl played his.

I don’t know how much we will be able to help, but I am hoping that we can do something for Kate & Carl. I cannot imagine coming home to find my stuff snatched, especially when the items that are gone were either necessary or at the very least cost a lot of money and were cherished items to the people that owned them. The only consolation is that no one was hurt.

Both Kate & Carl are taking this in stride, but I am sure they would love to be able to regain what they lost. Still, their upbeat attitude is awesome considering the circumstances. Now, it’s time to help these guys get their stuff back.

Xbox are you listening?

Prilosec OTC is the official sponsor of the Everything You Do Without Heartburn Contest. This great opportunity is going to give 100 people the chance to live out one of their dreams! Will you be one of those people?

As a mom, a pseudo-wife, a full-time student, and a blogger I have learned one thing. It is incredibly easy as a woman to put your passions on the back burner. I love to write. It’s my passion. I have more than one novel started or somewhere in the phase of nearing completion, but sadly, I have not written a page of any of these novels in months. I keep telling myself to pick up the page, but something is always sitting there waiting to be done. This thought made me incredibly excited to hear about the PrilosecOTC “Everything You Do Without Heartburn” sponsorship.

The sponsorship is not only a great idea, it’s about as simple as they come. All you have to do is visit the Everything You do Without Heartburn website and let people know what you are the most passionate about. Everyone has something that they have always dreamed of doing, but they never had the chance or the money to do it. Well, this campaign courtesy of Prilosec, is your chance to fulfill your deepest dreams.

Prilosec is going to help 100 people by giving them a chance at fulfilling their dreams. The average value of each prize will be around $1000 with a maximum value of $4000. It doesn’t get simpler than a contest like this. Just tell people the thing you long to do and you have the chance to be rewarded for it! How amazing is that?

According to the Everything You Do Without Heartburn website, the judges have the official say concerning the winners, but you can campaign for votes from friends and family to increase your chances of being chosen. So, get over to the Everything You Do Without Heartburn website and make your free account today. Once you share your story and add photos and/or video, you can submit your page for approval. You can be recruiting votes in no time and before you know it, you might just be one of the 100 lucky winners!

I know that I could think of more than one thing that I would love to do, but there is one thing more than any other that I would long to do if I could wake up every morning and do it for the rest of my life. In preparation for your entry, consider leaving us a comment and letting us know what your passion is. Whether Prilosec chooses you or not, we would love to hear what it is

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Prilosec OTC. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
