Product Review: Colgate Wisp Plus Whitening

I think that it’s safe to say that we have all had that not so fresh feeling in our mouths at least once in our lives. All too often that feeling comes after having lunch or a meal out of the home, where a run to the bathroom for a mouth freshening just isn’t possible. Of course, carrying a toothbrush in our purse might seem a little on the narcotic side, so that begs the question – what’s a girl to do?

Colgate Wisp

The quick answer would be Wisp or in the case of this review, Wisp plus Whitening. Colgate created these handy mini- on the go- toothbrushes for just the occasions mentioned above. Available in both Coolmint and Cinnamon, Wisp allows you to brush on the go to avoid those bad breath moments that only gum used to be able to mask.

So, now the question becomes – how do they work? The answer is mixed. They work fine in the breath freshening department. After using the coolmint flavor my mouth felt fresh. I wasn’t worried that someone would be smelling that chili dog smell from my lunch, which is a big plus. They are also incredibly easy, allowing you to use them completely on the go. You do not need any water or even to spit. Just open the pack, brush your teeth and dispose of the Wisp and you’re done.

Environmental responsibility is the one problem I have with the Colgate Wisp. As these are not labeled as a “green” product, I feel that it is completely irresponsible as a person to use and throw away these toothbrushes on a daily basis. With landfills already filled with products that are not biodegradable can you imagine how much worse the problem becomes if every person uses one Wisp a day, throwing out 365 of them a year? With Colgate being a huge household name you would think they could have come up with a product that was better executed in terms of the environment.

That being said I still believe these are somewhat worthwhile as far as a purchase goes. If you are out and about and are truly having some breath problems or unclean mouth feelings these are going to get rid of those problems. I do not feel they should be used on a daily basis though. Morning and night brushings should curb the majority of problems that most people have. However, the occasional afternoon issue does occur and when it does the Wisp can help out.

All this being said, I recommend you purchase the Colgate Wisp on a limited basis and use them sparingly. You can pick these up at most major retailers and online at stores like Amazon.com.
