Review: Sticky Fingers Grilling Caddy Gift Basket

July 5, 2010 5 Comments »

We first came in contact with Sticky Fingers when they requested that we consider them for our Father’s Day guide. Well, we loved them so much that wr added them to the guide, but we realized that we needed to offer a longer review, too.

Before this review we had never even heard of Sticky Fingers. The only reason I can think that I had not heard of them is that the Sticky Fingers restaurants are not located in our area and much of the bottle sauces are found in neighboring areas, but not where I shop. Needless to say, one taste made me a believer so I am thrilled that we got a chance to work with them.

Sticky Fingers Grilling Caddy

The Grilling Caddy is the most expensive basket that Sticky Fingers offers. At $65.99 this set includes everything you need to have an amazing barbecue except the meat and the grill.

Included in the set you receive:

- Black Metal Grilling Caddy
- Burlap sack with 1lb. Hickory Wood Chips (plus instructions)
- 16” Grilling Mitt
- Sticky Fingers Barbecue Apron
- Sauce Mop
- 18oz Bottle of Memphis Original Barbecue Sauce
- 18oz Bottle of Carolina Sweet Barbecue Sauce
- 2.5oz Bottle of Sticky Fingers Dry Rub

If you (or someone you know) spend a good portion of the summer at the grill, you can’t beat this set. It includes all of the grilling basics and it allows you to try some of the excellent Sticky Fingers sauces that might not be local to you. I knew this was going to be a hit product before I even opened it, because every man that came in the house and saw it wanted to know if he could have it. I think it was the combination of the sauces and the grilling tools that did the trick. Of course, I love the convenience of the caddy personally.

I love the idea of being able to drop my spices and sauces into the caddy with the other essentials and just carry it to the grill. I hate having to lug various things out there to the backyard, so this just makes everything so much easier. The condiments included were just an added bonus for me.

They are quite the bonus though. The Dry Rub is fabulous on ribs, chicken and other grilled meats. The Barbecue sauce is excellent as well though your favorite will depend on the barbecue style you prefer. When it comes to Memphis vs. Carolina I’ve always had a hard time choosing. I generally go for Memphis, but I liked both of these sauces quite a bit. These are just two of the sauces that Sticky Fingers offers though, so I might pick up their 5-pack set just to see if I can pick a favorite from the five they offer.

The main concern here would be the price for me, as $70 is a lot of money in this economy. If you grill a good deal, these items will come in handy. However, if you find that you don’t like the sauce (some don’t) then you might feel it was a waste of money. I would recommend checking out the smaller gift packs that Sticky Fingers offers if you’ve never tried their sauce. This gives you a chance to sample it and see if it’s for you. If you’ve had the pleasure of Sticky Fingers before and you love the sauce as much as most people do, then I highly recommend getting one of these while you can. It’s well worth the money and other than the sauce, it should last well beyond one summer.

My husband loves to grill and we usually make basic boring food, but this set looks awesome.
