Our son, CT, is an energy saving fanatic. He would love us to go green in every way possible if we could, and usually we do our best to comply because the environment is very important to us. One of the requests that he commonly makes is for energy saving light bulbs. Normally we avoid buying the energy saving light bulbs because at our local stores you end up paying at least $3 more on average. If I were able to afford the increase I would be more than willing to make the switch, but until now we really haven’t been able to.
So, when we were offered the chance to review Sylvania’s Super Saver light bulbs I was really excited to let everyone know what I think of them. When these arrived (each package comes with two light bulbs) we just so happened to need to change a few light bulbs, which worked out perfectly. I have to admit, I was happy from the beginning with the quality of the Sylvania Super Savers.
The quality of the light is one of the most redeeming features of these light bulbs. If you’re interested in a warm, natural light this is the light bulb for you. I knew there were differences between the incandescent lights and halogen bulbs, but never noticed how much until I used these. The Sylvania halogen Super Saver light bulbs are shaped like regular light bulbs, which I also really like. I’ve used the energy saving twisty light bulbs before, but found them to be too dim for my taste and too pricey, too.
The light bulbs that I was sent are listed as 60W replacement bulbs that actually only use 43W. According to the box, you save 28% of the energy you would use with other light bulbs. They are also good for the environment because they lack the mercury that other light bulbs have in them. They even work with dimmers, though I don’t know how well because I don’t actually have dimmers. I am just going off of what the box says in that instance.
If you’re interested in trying out the new Sylvania Super Saver light bulbs you should be able to find them in most stores in your area. However, if you want to purchase them online or you cannot find them locally just pop on over to Sylvania’s Online Store where you can pick up a pack of two light bulbs for just over $4.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Sylvania and received products necessary to write this review. Along with the products, I also received a gift certificate as a thank you.
