I don’t know about you, but for me there is nothing more calming than entering a nice smelling home. It’s a relaxing experience altogether. I love candles and fragrances (air fresheners and other products) and I tend to spend more money than I probably should on these items. That’s why when I heard about Partylite’s new Scent 4 U fans and a representative of Partylite offered me a review fan, I jumped at the offer.
Scent 4 U fans are small fans that can easily fit on any desk, side table, or even a shelf or counter in your bathroom. You can choose from five scents including French Vanilla (this is what we reviewed), Iced Snowberries, Mango Tangerine, Mulberry, and Strawberry Rhubarb.
You don’t have to be worried about the sound of the Scent 4 U fan because it’s nonexistent. From the moment I turned it on, the only indication that it was working was from the lovely scent that filled the air. You fill the base unit with up to four fragrance discs. Each disc lasts up to 45 days according to the Partylite website. However, I cannot say whether or not that is completely accurate based on using it as I have not yet had this for 45 days. I have been using it for a few weeks and can still smell the scent though, so I have no reason to doubt the claims.
When you purchase the fan it comes with two refills and costs $39.95. However, if you spend $40 through the links above in the months of August on Partylite products you can get the fan for $20. All you have to do is make your purchases and select “Lookup your Host.” From there just choose Literary Illusions and your discount will be credited. If you need refills you can purchase those in the scents mentioned for $12.95 per 2-pack.

I tested the Scent 4 U fan in a variety of rooms in an attempt to gauge how well the actual scent disbursement works. I was not as impressed with this as I had hoped I would be. When I placed the fan in a smaller room, like the bathroom (my bathroom is way too small) the scent offered a nice permeating smell. It was easy to smell and it was actually quite pleasing. However, in my much larger living room it was barely, if ever noticeable.
In many of the larger rooms it was only noticeable if you were near the fan. I left it in the larger rooms for a few hours, thinking it might take longer to fill the room (within a short time the bathroom smelled great), but it never really did. It was more random. We smelled it every now and then, but otherwise it was so subtle that it was not consistently noticeable.
I loved the scent when I could smell it. The problem is that it wasn’t consistent enough for me to notice at all times. If it was in one room and I was in the other I didn’t notice the smell at all. With that in mind, I have taken to leaving this in the bathroom where it provides a delightful scent.

I feel the price of $40 is a bit much for the Scent 4 U, especially with the refills costing over $6 per unit (purchased in twos). That being said, if you’re going to buy this for a smaller room like a bathroom or one of the other smaller rooms in your home then I can recommend this and feel it would be somewhat worth the purchase. If you were planning on putting this in one room and having the scent travel through the house you will want to seek out another product because the product does not do this.
Note: I mentioned in the review that the Scent 4 U fan can hold up to 4 fragrance disks. It was requested by the consultant offering the review material that I mention that the more disks you use the more the scent should travel. If you want to gain the optimum amount of fragrance you would need to add all four of the scent cartridges. I did not test out four cartridges at once, I only used one, so I cannot corroborate the claims about whether or not the scent travels much further, though I would assume it is likely that it does. Assuming you were to do this it would initially cost you roughly $54 ($39.95 + two additional cartridges at $12.95) and then every six weeks you would have a maintenance cost of around $26. When you consider the price of candles, air fresheners, and other scented options that is an extremely high price to pay. The fact that the base is as high as it is and it only works to its fullest extent when you pay additional funds, it feels a bit like a rip off. After all, you can easily purchase similar scents on a lesser dime.
