Blender Review: Bosch MIXXO Hand Blender

August 5, 2009 No Comments »

When I was asked to review the Bosch MIXXO Hand Blender I actually had a hand blender sitting in a box that I had never used. It was just sitting in the box and I had never opened it. The day that I was offered the Bosch, I had remarked how I needed to buy a new blender. The one I have is a standard glass blender. It’s nothing too special, but it’s time to replace it. I decided to put that on hold for a bit when I received the Bosch.

When I learned the price (anywhere between $90 and $135 depending on where you buy it) I was certain there was no way that it could be worth it. $135 for a blender of any sort is just ridiculous. That’s what I thought before I tried it anyway. I have been using it for a few weeks now and I am absolutely in love. I have formed an attachment to my Bosch Mixxo and if anything ever happened to it I am certain that I would cry.

Mixxo Hand Blender

What Sets it Apart
The Mixxo actually serves more than one purpose. In addition to blending (in all its various forms) the Mixxo also works as a food processor. The Mixxo comes with a blending cup for drink mixing and a food processor bowl for making things like salsa or chopping up veggies and things of that sort. So, if your rational mind is saying you cannot pay that much for a hand blender then you can inform it that you’re really getting two kitchen appliances in one, which makes it okay.

The fact that this is a restaurant grade hand blender cannot be stressed enough. Your food or drinks will blend easily and turn out near perfect every time you make them. The actual blender is cordless and takes up little space. The charging base is large enough to find the Mixxo base on one side and the chopping/blending attachment on the other. When you are ready to use it you just snap it together, put it in the glass/pan/etc, press the lock and the on button (you can stop pressing the lock button, once blending begins), and you’re on your way to creating awesome foods/beverages.

What I Use it For
These days I seem to be pulling out the Mixxo quite a bit. Dom has me making him fresh fruit smoothie protein shakes every morning. It also makes a mean shake! Occasionally, I will use it for soups or as an alternative to the $4 ice cream treat at one of the local ice cream places, I can mix up my own at home now for little or no cost. Chances are, if it calls for blending, I am using the Mixxo if it’s possible. It’s my new go-to gadget for perfect cooking.

In case you haven’t noticed, I could not be happier with the Bosch Mixxo Hand Blender. In fact, it has led me to consider the purchase of other Bosch products, as this one works so well. While the price might seem a little steep it comes with a one year warranty and after a few weeks of using it, I can honestly say it works like a charm. Many people won’t need anything other than this to handle their blending and chopping family needs. Even if you do, the Mixxo works wonders on soups, smoothies, shakes, and a variety of other foods and drinks. I highly recommend checking this one out!
