Home Review: Dropps Laundry Soap

I do not do the laundry in our house. While I have many jobs, laundry is not one of them. I used to do the laundry back when Dom and I lived in an apartment on campus, but since moving back home I haven’t touched the washing machine more than a few times. My mother is fanatical about her laundry. She has to do it. Perhaps she likes doing laundry or it’s just her way of doing mommy things for me. In any case, when I get things like laundry soap to review, I hand it over to the real critic.
My mom doesn’t like anything. Well, she really likes Coke, but other than that I wonder if she can ever find a product that she doesn’t have a complaint about. That is one of the reasons I love giving her things to review. I know that if the product has a major fault, she will find it. No matter what it is, if a problem is there, she will point it out before the review goes up.
When we received the sample packets of Dropps in the mail she was incredibly skeptical. Sure, it looks like laundry soap, but she wasn’t sure it would get the job done right. She normally uses liquid soap and likes to stick with what she knows. She tried some of the Purex sheets recently and liked them, but found they were not soapy enough for her taste. She’s visual so she likes to see all that soap in the water.
That was one of the main complaints for her with Dropps. She noted that the water turned a beautiful blue color after adding the laundry pellet into the washer. However, it never seemed to get soapy. Even when she lifted the lid during the various cycles she did not see much, if any, soap. This was extremely bothersome to her.
The clothes smell clean and they seem to be clean (I didn’t wear any, but can say that they felt awfully soft), but my mom will end up washing them again, for the sheer fact that she didn’t see any soap. With all that being said, after using the Fresh Scent Dropps the clothes smelled great. I would recommend that people interested in making laundry easier should try these out. If the lack of appearance of soap doesn’t bother you then you might find that you like these a lot. They are fairly priced and easy to use. You just drop one in for a normal load and two in for a large load. The packs dissolve into the water and next thing you know you have soft, clean clothes.
It should be noted that soap, as in lather, does not equal clean. The reason that Dropps don’t lather as much is because it is an energy/bio-friendly product. The lack of lather means that you use less water. Other ways that Dropps are bio-friendly include being phosphate and chlorine free, and biodegradable. You just toss the pack into the wash and that’s it. There is nothing left behind to toss out. It doesn’t get much better than that! No clunky bottles or leftover mess. With Dropps things are just clean and simple!
If you’re looking for a greener alternative to the standard laundry soap you might want to leave the lather behind and give Dropps a try. If you do, make sure to let us know what you thought. Dropps is available in Fresh Scent, Scent + Dye Free, and Dropps Baby. You can pick these up through the Dropps Website for $7 for a one month supply (20 loads). It may cost a little more than your average detergent, but if you’re looking for a way to lower your carbon footprint this might just be the way to accomplish your goal.

Your mom sounds like my ex-mother-in-law, too funny, she would have washed them again, too. I thinks these sound wonderful…. Any help with laundry I could get would be terrific. I like the “no soap” idea, because of the biodegradability (is that a word??).
Thanks for the review, and tell mom thanks, too!
