Before I even get into this review, I have to say that I adore the design on these cans. While there is plenty of writing about the benefits that these drinks offer, it is the sharp, defined lines and designs that catch my eye. Of course, color coordinating them based on flavor difference doesn’t hurt either. I was impressed with the design before I had a chance to even pop the top. First impressions are always important in product design and had I seen these in the store I would have been compelled to pick one up and check it out.

When I think of Jones Soda, I think of the only two flavors I have tried; Orange and Grape. I admit it sounds horribly dreadful when you think of all the amazing flavors that Jones offers. I suppose I just have not had a chance to try them yet. I plan to amend this in the future though. Beyond flavors, I think of the glass bottles and the crisp pop from the carbonation that occurs after opening a cold bottle. Nothing beats pop in a glass bottle. Likewise, nothing beats pop that uses pure cane sugar – another thing that sets Jones apart.

One thing I don’t think of when I think of Jones Soda though, is tea or juice. However, Jones is attempting to offer a healthier alternative for moms and their children with these new Juice/Tea Blends. If you need a little focus and some clarity in your day it is likely that you will appreciate this beverage lineup. All of the blend drinks include the amino acid, GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). This is a big breakthrough in terms of healthy beverages that kids will enjoy.

As a parent, I want my children to enjoy what they are drinking, but I would like them to be at least somewhat health conscious, too. As much as I love pop, and I do allow them to indulge, as well, if I could find a healthier alternative that they enjoy I would definitely give them the healthier option instead. What mother wouldn’t? The GABA drinks do not replace pop. If you love pop as much as I do you can assume there is no substitute. However, they provide a stimulating, refreshing alternative that will replace some of the pop with a healthier drink.

Jones GABA drinks come in four flavors:
Fuji Apple
Grapefruit
Lemon Honey
Tangerine

If you read the artistically designed cans you will learn that these drinks will help you get higher test scores and get your job done better. While you may or may not believe that, one thing that it has been proven to do is increase your alpha brain waves, which improves your focus, balance, and clarity. I often struggle with focus, so I was looking forward to trying these out. I was also very curious because I generally do not like tea, so I wanted to see how much (or little) I would enjoy these.

I can be a chicken when it comes to trying new things. If I know I don’t like something, I usually shy away from it. When I was setting up this review, I let Jones know that I felt my favorite flavors would probably be the Fuji Apple and the Tangerine. While I wasn’t sure if I would like the Lemon Honey or Grapefruit, out of bravery I offered to try them, as well. As it turns out, Apple and Tangerine are my favorite and Lemon Honey and Grapefruit are better than I expected.

The Lemon Honey tasted the most like tea to me, though I still found it to be quite refreshing. That is actually the best word I can think of to describe these drinks; refreshing. My mom shared the Fuji Apple with me (she’s a hard sell, as some days it seems like she doesn’t like anything) and said she liked the taste. She went on to describe it as a muted (almost watered down or subtle) apple cider flavor. I wouldn’t say it was watered down, though I do agree you could not taste the tea in that one at all though it was fine by me.

CT is the pickiest one in the house and he wasn’t ready to try them yet. I tried to convince him that they would taste good, but he was not going for it in the least. I think eventually he will come around. Until then, the adults in the house really seemed to enjoy these. Dominick loved the Tangerine (I agree, it was definitely delish), but I think I am partial to the Apple.

With the added health benefits and the delicious taste, it’s hard not to recommend these. If you have kids I recommend buying a few of these for yourself and sneaking them a drink or two. If they like the flavors they will be stealing them from you in no time and the best part is, they won’t even guess that they are good for them!

If you have trouble finding these locally you can visit Jones Soda Online to find product information and locators.
