I don’t know who started watching Avatar first in our house, but I know it caught on like wildfire. I think it was CT and from there it went to Dominick and on to me. Avatar actually got me more interested in anime, which I’ve found can be quite amazing. When I heard about the Avatar movie being made, titled The Last Airbender I was ecstatic.
This has the potential to be quite the amazing live action film. The only thing that worried me was the fact that M. Night Shyamalan is directing. He’s promised to give the movie the treatment it deserves, but we have not always seen eye to eye. Still, for the sake of the series I love, I’m hoping that he kills it and proves me wrong about all of my negative thoughts.
The movie is set to be released in 2010. It’s casting has been quite controversial. The main characters are Jackson Rathbone as Sokka, Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) as Zuko, Nicola Peltz as Katara,Noah Ringer as Aang, Shaun Toub as Uncle Iroh, and Cliff Curtis as Firelord Ozai.
While much of the actual production has been hush, hush, it was released that on Monday night ET (Entertainment Tonight) will be offering a look at the original trailer for the upcoming film. Prior to this it had been said that the trailer would be released during the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opening beginning Tuesday.
I am looking forward to the trailer and hoping it’s a good indication of an excellent movie to come.
