“The Orange Zest almost reminds me of the flavor of bubblegum. Despite it being marketed for adults, I could see kids having no problem with this flavor.”
Whenever I hear about All Natural products I approach them with curiosity. I would love to use a mix of organic and all natural products. Currently, I don’t use very many. With prices being what they are, if the product is more expensive and I have never used it, I hate to try something and find out I have wasted my money. However, when a review opportunity comes along for something that is all natural, I am usually one of the first to sign up, if it’s available to me. That was the case with The Natural Dentist products.
I was offered a small selection of their products (for adults and children) to test out for this review. The benefits to using all natural dental products are immeasurable. Many popular toothpaste brands include detergent, artificial preservatives, dye, and some even include alcohol. It’s a safe bet that you wouldn’t let your kids have these things any other time, but it’s okay when they are brushing their teeth. It makes sense to ditch the less desirable products if you can.
The Natural Dentist includes ingredients like palm and canola oil, purified water, fluoride, Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, Minerals, and a handful of other natural ingredients. There are three flavors to choose from when buying The Natural Dentist Toothpaste. The options are Sparkle Berry Blast (for kids), Orange Zest, and Peppermint Twist. The mouthwash offers even more flavors, including, Fresh Mint, Peppermint Sage, Orange Zest, Clean Mint, Peppermint Twist, and Berry Blast. We were sent the Orange Zest and Sparkle Berry Blast toothpastes and the Berry Blast mouthwash for review.
After using these for a few days I can honestly say that I love the mild taste of the toothpaste and the mouthwash. The Orange Zest almost reminds me of the flavor of bubblegum. Despite it being marketed for adults, I could see kids having no problem with this flavor. Likewise, the Berry has a very pleasing, non-offensive, mild taste. The mouthwash has a bit of a kick to it, but it’s much subtler than something like Listerine which can be incredibly strong.
The one thing that I am not fond of is the lack of foam that produces when you brush your teeth with this toothpaste. I will admit it openly. The foam makes me feel like I am getting my teeth cleaner. I end up looking like one of those rabid dogs with the foam coming out of my mouth. Well, that isn’t the case with The Natural Dentist. I applied a liberal amount to the toothbrush as always and what I noticed was that it produces very little foam.
After brushing for a minute or two, I normally spit and brush some more to make sure I get my teeth as clean as possible. The lack of foam made the brushing feel more abrasive than usual, the second time around. It kind of made me feel like I was brushing with a bare toothbrush. It’s worth noting that after a day or two this did not bother me as much, though I do miss my foam. All in all, it is a little complaint and knowing that these products taste better and are better for the whole family makes it worth it.
You can pick up The Natural Dentist products at your local Rite Aid and Walgreens or you can shop online at retailers like CVS or Drugstore.com. On average, according to online pricing, The Natural Dentist products will run you anywhere from $5 – $10 depending on the product. Naturally, if you are shopping online, the total cost will be a little higher due to shipping.
The price is the only other thing that bothers me, beyond the lack of foam. My teeth feel great and I have no qualms about recommending this product. That being said, it is a bit pricier than your average toothpaste. If you can afford it, I recommend checking it out, especially if your kids aren’t fond of the traditional flavors (or you want a safer alternative). However, if $5 – $10 is just too much for you, then you might want to keep it in mind for when you can afford it.
