Clothing Review: Lola et Moi Outfit

I don’t live in California, so I don’t know much about high quality fashion that is available to both celebrities and their children. While I’ve had the chance to check out a few of Hollywood’s favorite boutiques thanks to the outfits of some of Tinseltown’s biggest stars and their children, I’ve never had a chance to physically visit any of these stores. Of course, I’m not a celebrity nor is anyone in my family. That doesn’t mean we don’t try to find the best outfits for both my son, CT, and my nephew, Lil B, to wear.

As you might have guessed, I was absolutely thrilled when I was contacted about reviewing some clothing from Lola et Moi. I was so happy that the company was willing to send an outfit for Lil B to wear, and for us to review, from their Beverly Hills store. This is the only place you can buy these clothes in the United States. The clothes are so adorably fashionable that celebrities, such as Selma Hayek, shop their for their children. With my son too old for their clothing, I set out to receive something that Lil B could wear and I could review.

While I initially planned to take both pictures and videos of Lil B, he has been feeling under the weather lately. So, I managed to have my brother (his dad) snap a few photos of him. Unfortunately, my brother doesn’t have the best camera. I’ll be updating this review in the next week or so with higher quality images and a video of Lil B in his outfit, now that he’s finally starting to feel better. Even in these less than stellar quality photos, you can see how adorable Lil B is, in his Lola et Moi outfit.

Not only is the outfit adorable, it’s also appears to be made with high quality fabric. This isn’t an outfit that is going to wear out easily. In fact, I’m sure he’ll outgrow this outfit before it outgrows him. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outfit we received for Lil B from Lola et Moi. Of course, besides the adorability factor of this outfit, there are a few other things you, as a parent, will want to consider before purchasing your own outfit from Lola et Moi, for your child.

Clothing Offerings
We received a long sleeved, button down, patterned shirt for Lil B to wear. We also received a gray sweater vest. The vest can be worn with the button down, or Lil B can wear the button down on his own. At the time when we received these clothes (and still today), the Lola et Moi website did not feature any boys clothes, so I didn’t know what to expect. I knew the clothing offerings for girls were stunning, so I hoped that the boys clothes were just as nice. I was very impressed by what we received.

The patterned shirt was something he can wear to both school or to a fancier event. It’s casual enough to be worn every day, but also elegant enough that he can get away with wearing it to a fancier restaurant or another special event. I also liked the fact that the clothes seem to run a little big for his size. While the shirt and vest fit perfectly, it still seemed as if he had room to grow into them. This is an outfit you’ll want to last for as long as it will fit your child, so I’m glad it isn’t something he is going to outgrow in the next week.

Fabric/Material Quality
The patterned shirt looked like it was made of a heavier type of cotton. This is definitely a high quality fabric. It’s thicker and doesn’t look like the type of fabric that would rip easily (or after washing it). Despite the fact that this fabric is thick, it wasn’t heavy on Lil B’s skin. The shirt actually felt quite soft, and it isn’t the type of shirt that would cause any type of skin irritation. So, while it is heavier in material form, it’s rather lightweight, to wear.

The vest looks to be made of some type of woolen fabric. I’m not exactly sure what it is made of, but the craftsmanship of this vest is quite exquisite. The vest was comfortable, soft, and not at all itchy, like some wool can be. Lil B kept remarking about how soft it was when he ran his fingers over the vest. While I wasn’t sure how well the vest would go with the crazy patterns on his shirt, the two pieces go together, remarkably well.

Price
Since these clothing items didn’t come with a price tag and there is currently no information on pricing on the Lola et Moi website for boys clothes, I’m going to have to guess at how much the button down and vest cost. Remember, this is a Beverly Hills boutique, so you’re going to pay a lot more for higher quality clothing then you would at say, Kohl’s or Wal-Mart. If you are on a budget, you won’t be able to afford an outfit from Lola et Moi, unless you have saved up money to buy something for a special occasion.

I do know that these clothes would be perfect for holidays, birthdays, or another celebration when you are planning to spend a lot more money then you’d expect to purchase with every day outfits. I could also see young kids wearing Lola et Moi on school picture days. I do love these clothes, and right now, their adorable coats are making me wish I had a little girl! When I do have more children, you can bet I’ll be looking to this boutique when I’m buying fancier clothes for my children, especially for those special family events and celebrations.

If I had to guess at how much the vest and shirt cost, I’d say a little over $100. This is just a guess based on the pricing of their girls and baby clothing. I did find some dresses available for online shopping that are comparable to the prices you’d pay to buy a dress in the mall, but these outfits seem to be of a higher quality. Adorability Factor
Not only are these outfits adorable, they are incredibly unique. This didn’t look like anything else Lil B owns. My brother dresses him well, but this still has to be one of the best outfits he now owns. Truthfully, how many kids in your area will own something from a Beverly Hills clothing store? Lil B looked so cute in this outfit and when he wore it out, he received many compliments for the unique style. Nobody in his class at school has an outfit like this, so naturally his outfit has been the talk of the town.

Most of the clothing in the Lola et Moi line is just as adorable as the outfit we received for Lil B. It’s stylish, beautifully crafted, and your child will look brilliant while wearing Lola et Moi attire. I know these pictures aren’t the greatest, but you can still see how beautiful Lil B looks in these clothes. I’m extremely happy with what we received and plan to look to Lola et Moi for clothing purchases once I have my own, young children again.

Lasting Appeal
Just based on the fact that these clothes are unique, I don’t see Lola et Moi outfits going out of style. Since they are well crafted, I’m sure that Lil B will outgrow this outfit before he is ready to stop wearing it. The clothing may appear to be retro in many ways, but the style is timeless, the quality makes it long lasting and worthy of purchasing, and I can see this outfit being passed on to another child who could benefit from wearing it once Lil B has grown out of it!

Bottom Line
I love Lola et Moi! This Beverly Hills boutique is absolutely fabulous. While I never expected I’d want to purchase clothing from a store like this, I’ve fallen in love with their clothing. I’ve visited the Lola et Moi website over 20 times since I’ve received the clothes we’re reviewing with Lil B. Every time I see the retro coats (especially the red and green Chic Retro Wool Coats) I hope that I’ll soon have a little girl who can wear such an adorable outfit.

I don’t think these outfits will be going out of style any time soon. What else is there to say? Sure, Lola et Moi is a little more expensive then a local shopping outlet, but for how your child is going to look and how long this outfit will last, I truly believe the price is worth paying.
