Product Review: Temporal Scanner Thermometer

Exergen Temporal Scanner ThermometerWhen I first had my son, the choices for thermometers were the age old rectal, the under the tongue, and I think the ear thermometer had just come out. Sadly, at the time the digital ear thermometer was so expensive it wasn’t even an option for us to consider. Had there of been a better way to take my child’s temperature I would have jumped at it. Well, now new mom’s and families can experience the TemporalScanner by Exergen.

I have to admit, I absolutely love this thermometer. The fact that it appears accurate and it’s simple makes it worth any price for which it is being sold. However, the good news is that it’s cheaper and easier to use than any other digital thermometer on the market that I have found. After looking the price up at Walmart I found the Temporal Thermometer for just under $30. For this price, I would have no problem recommending this to any parent or person needing a good thermometer.

The Temporal Scanner Thermometer is a small, hand held thermometer that you press to the person’s head. After holding in the button you will hear a small series of beeps that will alert you that the temperature is ready. I have heard that for the best results you should move the thermometer across the forehead while trying to get a reading, though I have had equally good results by placing it on the forehead around the temple area.

There are some important things to remember about this thermometer though. The first thing to consider is that the Temporal Scanner is as accurate as a rectal thermometer, according to medical professionals. That being said, you can get a differing reading each time that you use this. Still, the readings should be around .3 degrees of one another if done in succession. Also, before you turn it on, you need to make sure that the dust cap has been taken off.

Additionally, you should press the button prior to putting it on the skin. Make sure that there is no sweat on the forehead because perspiration often will throw off the reading and make it inaccurate. We made sure to try this out on everyone in the house and when matching it with another thermometer we found similar readings. We have not had to use it in a critical situation as of yet, though I feel confident in doing so when that happens.

I cannot stress how thrilled I am that we were able to try this thermometer out. It works perfectly and provides a no fuss solution for handling temperature taking with sick children. You can rest assured that your child can remain comfortable while you get an accurate reading right from their forehead. It couldn’t be any simpler. Not only that, but for the price you pay, you will not find a better option. I was shocked to find this for such a fair price. I was expecting something in the range of the ear thermometers, which are often much more expensive.

If you do not have a TemporalScanner Thermometer I highly recommend that you go out and get one at your earliest convenience. You can find these everywhere from Walmart and Target to online at stores such as Amazon.com. The majority of stores offer them for under $30, so if you find it for a higher price, keep looking because there are plenty of deals out there!
