6. Charlie & Lola: The Absolutely Completely Complete Seasons One and Two: The first time I saw Charlie & Lola I knew I was going to love the show. The first episode was all about an advent calendar that Charlie got for Christmas. He patiently had to explain to Lola that opening all of the boxes wouldn’t make Santa and Christmas come any faster.
Charlie is probably the best and most patient big brother on the planet and Lola is precocious, funny, and always entertaining. Kids will love this show and parents will certainly receive their fair share of laughs, too.
These two seasons offer everything your child might have missed when they aired on television. This is a great set for established Charlie & Lola lovers or for kids that are brand spankin’ new to the show. Either way they will love this set!

7. The Howdy Doody Show- 40 Episode Collection: This set is probably going to be more for parents or grandparents and less for small children. Of course, if you’re looking to let your child (or grandchild) have a taste of what life was like with children’s shows back in the day this might be just what you are looking for!
Howdy Doody was so popular that the show was able to run for over 2,500 episodes! Naturally that’s just too big of a set for anyone to handle. This 40 episode set is both affordable and easy to sit through though. Kids will likely find it amusing to watch the shows that their grandparents grew up watching.
A fun side experience to this set is the commercials that are included. It’s worth it just to see and let your kids see how advertising has changed since the days of Howdy Doody!
You can pick up a copy of this DVD at Amazon for just over $12!
8. The Naked Brothers Band: Season 2: If you’re looking for a live-action show for your kids that is musical, entertaining, funny, and occasionally tacks on a message that makes watching worthwhile, then you don’t need to look any further than The Naked Brothers Band. Each episode chronicles the fictitious lives of brothers Nat and Alex, two major rock stars in the Naked Brothers Band. These guys live the life, rocking out with their friends, and having some good times with their cousin and their incredibly flighty dad.
While I am nowhere near a fan of the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana, the Naked Brothers Band always cracks me up. The brothers are excellent at comedic timing and they aren’t too bad at singing songs kids will like, either.

9. Wonder Pets!: Save the Nutcracker: If you have a small child and do not know who the Wonder Pets are then shame on you! These small super-pets are by far a part of the cutest, most entertaining children’s show for pre-schoolers on television today. In fact, they are only rivaled by The Backyardigans.
The Wonder Pets are three schoolroom pets that wait for the class to leave and then go off to save baby animals that are in trouble and need their help. They have helped everyone from one of their own to the itsy, bitsy spider. The show is structured and teaches important things like team work and how to come up with solutions and solve problems even when you think it’s going to be hard.
Kids enjoy the show and most of the parents I know enjoy it, too. Of course, they are a little more hesitant about admitting it. Still, the kids will love this and it will make a great stocking stuffer if you’re looking for another filler gift!
Other good Wonder Pets DVD’s include Save the Reindeer and Save the Dinosaur. The DVD is also incredibly affordable at $15 on Amazon.
10. Batman – The Complete Animated Series: Known simply as Batman TAS this show was one of the most popular animated series about the intense superhero, Batman. TAS received plenty of exposure and won a couple of Emmys in its time. Kevin Conroy did an excellent job as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
The show is darker than many of the cartoons that have been released in the past, though it makes it more interesting and fans of the comic books and movies are able to appreciate TAS more thanks to that fact.
This set features all of the episodes and plenty of special features. This should work well for any fan of Batman. This is the year for Batman with the new movie, The Dark Knight being out on DVD and Blu-ray and amazing animated options like TAS hitting the shelves, you just cannot go wrong with Batman.
We didn’t have a chance to review this, but we did get a chance to check out The Dark Knight. You can pick up this set of 109 episodes for just over $75 on Amazon – a STEAL!
