“Growing Up Lion”
Experience a pivotal and emotional year with Carol and Ron Asvestas, owners of Wild Animal Orphanage near San Antonio, Texas, as they raise four lion cubs. There’s Amy, a tiny newborn and three cubs – Rex, Sheba and Leo – babies quickly growing in size, strength and curiosity. Every day brings new joys, adventures and discoveries. The lion cubs also face their share of challenges – from serious illness to natural disasters. But with abundant, tender-loving care from their human family, the cubs embark on a remarkable journey toward the formation of lion cub pride.
“Growing Up Tiger”
Travel to the Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge near Tyler, Texas and meet Brian Werner and Terri Block, founders of a loving and permanent home for more than thirty tigers, lions and other great cats that have been abused, neglected or displaced. Witness the amazing birth of two tiny cubs – Sarge and Lily, and follow them from bottle feedings, to first steps, to first bath and watch as they become more independent as they take their first field trip to a lake, learning how to swim. Two cubs transform into stunning 100 pound tigers by the time they celebrate their first birthday!
“Growing Up Cheetah”
Corban, Kane and Kieran are three cheetah cubs, born at South Africa’s Cango Wildlife Ranch’s Cheetah Breeding Centre. The cuddly cubs will spend the first ten days of their lives with their mother before being introduced to their new care keepers – one of the ranch’s keepers and her dog. Join these bold and bouncy babies as they progress from newborn balls of fur to terror-toddlers. Witness the cubs first bottle-feeding session, their first solid meal, first encounter with the outside world and their first adventure at the wildlife ranch. The keepers must choose how many of the cubs to keep and how many to send to the other breeding programs around the world to help increase the small genetic pool of cheetahs so that these big cats survive well into the future.
“Growing Up Black Leopard”
Join host Edie Falco (“The Sopranos”) as she takes us on an incredible journey following the first year in the life of a rare African black leopard named Eddy. Born at a wildlife sanctuary in Colorado and rejected by his mom, Eddy must rely on his devoted human caregivers to help him survive early illness and grow into a healthy leopard who can hold his own with the other big cats.
