Toy Review: Baby Jamz – Mix Master Music Chair

One of the best presents you can buy your child this Christmas is the Mix Master Music Chair by Baby Jamz. One place you can most certainly find the Mix Master Music Chair is at Wal-Mart. Baby Jamz and Wal-Mart have an exclusive deal to sell Baby Jamz products through the popular retail chain. Of course, you’re certain to find some independent sellers on Amazon and on EBay who have purchased the toys through Wal-Mart. It doesn’t matter where you get this toy. If you have a child between 1 and 4 years old I highly recommend you purchase it for them.

What can I say about the Mix Master Music Chair, other than to tell you that my nephew, Lil B, absolutely loved it! The minute he saw this amazing toy his eyes lit up. While the Mix Master Music Chair is recommended for children who are 12 months to 36 months, depending on the child I recommend it for up to four years. Lil B is an active, fun-loving 3 ½ year old. He loved this toy and has used it many times since I gave it to him to review. I love the way it entertains him and I also secretly love the fact that it has plenty of sounds that can annoy my brother (who used to buy my son noisy toys all the time when he was little).

I didn’t find the toy too annoying, though some parents have said the repetitious tunes can be a little grating on the nerves after awhile. Still, the most important part is whether the child playing with the toy is enjoying himself/herself. Since Lil B’s reaction was so positive, I can’t imagine that other children would find this toy to be repulsive. All of the reviews I’ve seen online, from parents who have purchased this toy, have been positive. That has to say something about the quality of the Mix Master Music Chair.

Requirements:
The assembly for the Mix Master Music Chair is pretty simple. It doesn’t take much to put it together and after you do, the toy is ready to go. I don’t recall having to put in any batteries and Wal-Mart doesn’t list the need to have batteries so I’m assuming they aren’t needed. I tried to examine the toy to see if there were batteries already put into the chair, but it didn’t appear to have any battery slots and it didn’t have a lot of little parts or complicated instructions. This toy works pretty much right out of the box.

Basics:
The Baby Jamz Mix Master Music Chair allows your child to be a DJ. Featuring multiple Nursery Rhyme sounds that are sung by Solange Knowles your child can sit in the chair, press the multiple buttons and jam like the little DJ he/she is. With numerous buttons to press, your child can create new mixes and new sounds every time he/she plays with this toy. Your budding artist can enjoy the light up shapes and numbered buttons that rest on the arms of the chair.

Released by Baby Jamz, the Mix Master Music Chair comes in an adorable multi-color design. The primary seat is red, with a yellow music note on it. The arms and feet on one side are blue and on the other side are green. One side features light up shapes while the other features four light up buttons. These buttons are numbered from 1 to 4 and can be pressed to create the sounds for mixing. As the child presses the buttons simultaneously, the music appears to mix from one song to the next, sometimes interrupting one song or repeating the same lines of a song over and over.

You have never heard Nursery Rhymes quite like this before. The Mix Master Music Chair has an automatic activation of the music when the child sits down in the seat. This is done by pressure placed on the yellow note which stretches across the red seat. Three different Nursery Rhymes are played through the chair. The Mix Master Music Chair also features interactive songs as well as sound effects. It is an all in one music mixing station for babies and toddlers.

The four, light up, numbered buttons provide the added touch with the cool DJ mixing sounds. Your child can also press the three light-up buttons on the other arm. These buttons are in the shape of a square, triangle and circle. The music has a funky, hip hop sounding beat and the singing by Solange Knowles is both enjoyable and refreshing. Baby Jamz put a modern spin on an old idea, with plenty of toys that play standard Nursery Rhymes. Parents have complimented Knowles and are appreciative of the change from the same old singing, which typically is done in very happy sounding (perky) child voices.

Bottom Line:
If you want to make a big splash with your little one this Christmas, you have to buy the Baby Jamz Mix Master Music Chair. I know the little guy in my life loved it and I can’t say I blame him. I loved watching him play with the toy and seeing the excitement on his face. Since he’s older, I know it won’t last for much longer, but those with younger children (around 1) can get a few years of enjoyment and something that will, surprisingly make a child sit still and enjoy becoming their own DJ.
