After more than 75 years, our favorite sailor is back with a Christmas special that’s sure to entertain and warm your heart during the holiday season. It’s just before Christmas, but instead of sugarplums, Popeye’s head is filled with nightmares. Convinced that his long-lost Pappy desperately needs him now, he sets sail with his unseaworthy crew: loutish Bluto, lovelorn Olive Oyl, fearless Swee’Pea, and hamburger-loving stowaway, Wimpy. As they approach the Sea of Mystery, dark domain of the evil Sea Hag, strange and scary things begin to happen. Mists, sirens and serpents attack the intrepid seafarers, but Popeye comes to their rescue. All’s well that ends well, and the entire family is reunited to share a joyous Christmas feast! I used to love Popeye when I was a little kid.
I think it would be cool to get my kid interested in Popeye, since some cartoons today, like Ed, Edd and Eddy are so stupid they’re practically unwatchable.
