Fans of Avatar have a chance to catch up on episodes they might not have seen from the First and Second Seasons. Starting at 2 PM ET on September 18, 2007 a four day marathon, the Avatar Superstar Spectacular begins. The marathon starts with the Avatar Season 3 Trailer. This is followed up by a First and Second Season mega-marathon and ends with multiple Avatar shorts that have yet to be seen.
Avatar focuses on the life of the last Airbender, named Aang, who is also the Avatar. Aang was frozen with his flying bison Appa, for 100 years. During this time, all of the air benders were the victims of genocide, by the Fire Nation. The Fire Nation, thinking they had also killed the Avatar, proceeded to take over the various other nations, wanting ultimate control and power of the world. As the Avatar, Aang is the only one with the ability to keep the peace between all four nations. Before he can, he must master the art of water bending, fire bending, and earth bending, since he already knows how to air bend.
Aang is accompanied on his journey by siblings from the Southern Water Tribe, Sokka (a young warrior) and his sister Katara (a fledgling water bender). During their trip, a lemur Momo, and blind Earth Bender, Toph, join in on their travelling efforts. The group must help Aang learn to bend as quickly as possible, all while avoiding capture by Prince Zuko, a banished prince, who must capture the Avatar to restore his place in the Fire Nation, and various other Fire Bender military officers, intent to capture the Avatar before Zuko can.
The premiere of the third season of Avatar airs on Nickelodeon on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 8:30 PM ET. This is the regular time slot for Season Three – Book: Fire. Until then, you can catch episodes of Avatar on NickToons from 2:00-3:00 PM and at 10:30 PM ET each weekday, and don’t forget to catch the Avatar Superstar Spectacular, September 18.
