My Little Pony, A Very Pony Place is a soft cover book with two stories that are based on the animated movie. With vivid pictures and stories filled with heart-warming lessons all little girls need to learn, this book makes an excellent addition to every young girl’s library. The stories will be good enough to please on their own, but when you add these pretty little ponies you will be sure to have a hit on your hands.
The first story in this fabulous book is “Come Back Lily Lightly”. It is time for the Rainbow Lights Party and Lily Lightly is going to be the Princess of all that Twinkles and Glows! Lily is so excited and happy about this that her horn begins glowing. Lily becomes terribly embarrassed because she is different than the other ponies and decides to run away.
Lily learns that it is important to be who she is. The other ponies tell her that her glowing horn makes her unique and that is something to be proud of not ashamed. The story has an excellent message for young girls and it ends happily with the special event going on, as planned.
In the second story, “Positively Pink”, Minty looks at the Birthday Book and discovers that it’s Pinkie Pie’s birthday! A huge celebration is planned to surprise Pinkie Pie, but it comes to be that she is not the only person who ends up surprised. The ending is a happy one though and everyone has a smile and laugh before the final line of the book.
On the inside of the back cover there is a picture of Pinkie Pie that is ready to be colored. Your child will have a chance to name her pony and write (or have you write) a small passage on what makes her special. This works well in explaining the story of Lily Lightly and ensuring that they understand why Lily was special and why they are special, as well.
Bottom Line: My Little Pony: A Very Pony Place is a wonderful addition to a young child’s library. My Little Ponys were popular when I was a child in the 1980’s and it is nice to see such a positive form of animation return to books and television. I am sure your children will enjoy them as much as those of us from the 1980’s did.
